Photography is an important part of the appraisal process. We include one, two or more views of each piece being evaluated. The views are typically top and side but can be of hallmarks and manufacturing stamps, watch movements, serial numbers or as many as needed to properly identify the piece. The photos are shot using a white background and then enhanced for brightness.
Photomicrographs of the internal or external identifying inclusions or marks in or on major diamonds are included in the reports. These photos are used to verify lab reports and record the exact position and type of inclusions in stones along with laser inscriptions. These photos can also be used to record condition of stones or jewelry prior to and after setting or repair work. Check out our photo gallery.
